it's been a while since i was on here.
uh, in terms of news about my life, uh... well, i went back to college. which i didn't really stop being at. fall semester started a couple weeks ago. it's fine.
I read a number of books in the last few weeks -
first all of Infinite Dendrogram, which rules
then Luminous Dead, which was okay i guess
then Poppy War, which rules
then Heaven Official's Blessing, which rules
and finally Machinery of Empire, whcih may have filled my Reading Things Quota for the next howeverlong because instaed of reading new things i want to go back and reread Ninefox Gambit about twelve more times.
I haven't written anything publishable. I've made some art. My brain is not where I want it to be but i'm, you know, focusing on finishing the year out without failing, so we're not gonig to pretend anyone thought i was going to walk out of this year of like as high intensity Classes as i can physically manage with a really impressive creative output in my hands lol
anyway here's to me not forgetting dreamwidth exists. again. i'm really only here because the author of machineries of empire has a dw account and it reminded me that i also have one fo those

I really REALLY need to get to Heaven Official's Blessing and Machinery of Empire. They've been on my list for so long but I am so bad at reading new things (and, okay, you've seen me on Tumblr, you know I've been deep in the Ace Attorney trenches).
Good luck with classes! High-intensity class years SUCK so like. I hope that goes as well as it can!

It had also been on my list since forever, but I was still surprised at how much I enjoyed it once I finally actually got around to it. I'm currently in the process of bullying everyone I know into also reading it now, so I can talk about it without having to be super careful about hedging around spoilers

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get myself the very nice box set I imagined existing like, two days ago that I decided I wanted before discovering it's not *sold* outside of trade paperback format... but one day i'll have them as real physical books, too

Calendrical warfare is probably my favorite piece of religious-fantasy-magic worldbuilding ever. Hands down. It might just be that I'm Jewish and I've lived my whole life on two calendars at once, but it's such an immediately clever and *interesting* way to work wtih 'consensus magic' and it works so well in-universe.
And i'm gnawing on every character in the whole series. There's no one I didn't like reading about.
