it's been a while since I came onto dreamwidth last, and it's been a longer while since i drew art for transformers.

especially ship art! I don't think i've done that in like a year. Last time I bothered drawing idw megop stuff was like, last august, so i can't imagine i've done much else lol.

I saw this on pillowfort while browsing for megop, but I'm never active there so I followed you through to here! I loooove this artwork, I actually got p emotional first time I saw it!

There's something so irresistible and tragic about the fact that no matter what, one of them is always falling. TwT

I feel like part of the inherent tragedy of MegOp is that no matter what happens, no matter how they get together, *someone* has to lose to the other, you know? Neither of them are the kind of people to give up, and even when Optimus might try to find peace Megatron is never willing to take the extended hand. I kinda wanted to go for the "falling for you" pun, but I also wanted to evoke the sort of element of loss/failure inherent in any real canon-compliant/adjacent MegOp :D

Ughhh yes I know exactly what you mean!!! I love both characters for having so much they're passionate about, which definitely suggests that they have an incredibly deep capacity for romantic love as well, but we know that that definitely stands directly in the way of other goals and wishes of theirs. I think that's partly why I love them so much — the idea of them getting together, and making the conscious decision to recognise their bond, and pointedly value that relationship and presence in their life over other wishes. The personal sacrifice that is born not of desperation or fear, but love... there's something so beautiful about that. And relatable, too. We all may not be waging intergalactic multi-millenia wars, but real people deal with that very struggle all the time.

And at the same time, just like in your art, the inevitability of them falling — for each other, and in their perfect idealised victory — is right there plain as day. Even if they fight against it, megop are destined to walk that path bc they are who they are T__T

canon set megop is... so bittersweet, but wonderful for it. *clutches heart*
