bi-yearly decision to start using dreamwidth again

i keep doing this so i can't imagine i'll stick to it with any efficacy but I have decided to pay more attention to dreamwidth and use it as my primary social media! (Again.)

expect like three posts and then for me to vanish again, because I'm very bad at keeping my word on this kind of thing.

haha, well, glad to have you for the time you're on here anyway! it might help if you found some journals or comms that you liked keeping up with some regularity. ^__^ the sunshine_challenge is also running in a few days over the next month which might interest you! it's a cool way to meet new people and also exercise those blogging muscles :P

Good point!

I'm too used to the viral and extremely fast moving pace of websites like tumblr, so the relatively slow feel of Dreamwidth tends to lose me. This hasn't been helped by the fact that i've only joined almost exclusively inactive communities lmao; that's in fact a big part of it. As of right now I'm only here to keep up with specific users, but for the most part they don't post regularly.

I'm definitely going to check out the sunshine comm, but I have a qusetion for you, if you feel up to it: do you know of any active TF comms?

Hey, sorry for the tardy reply ^^;

Yeah, I know how you feel. I've been using dw since ~2015 but I only got really stuck in one or two years ago, and it is a bit of a change of pace. Once you have some friends on here and some journals/comms of interest in your reading page though - or at least for me - it can feel like there's more to read than I have time for lol.

There are a fair few TF folk on here, but none I talk with regularly alas. I'm hosting a watchparty for War for Cybertron: Siege in August if you're interested, which might be an opportunity to participate in some dreamwidth transformers squee. (Edit: I should add that slowly, I am finding some TF fans coming out of the woodwork recently lol. I don't know if it's the timing or if I'm dragging people into it, but either way, I'm happy about it lol.)

As for active comms, there's tfanonkink which isn't very active but definitely still has some people reading and posting sometimes; thecybertronian has weekly posts, but it's a newsletter rather than a social comm, yk; and tf_rare_pairing has weekly prompts. Long answer short here would be no, I'm afraid I don't know any active TF comm yet TvT but if I find enough people on here who are interested in a space to talk abt TF right now, I'd be happy to help mod something or join in in resurrecting an old space. There are a ton of communities that are vestiges of a bygone era lol, you can find them on my profile under subscriptions, and although a lot of them are dead, there's tons of fannish content to enjoy there if you dig through them.

You could try doing Sunshine challenge or one of the comics/video game writing challenges to get you in the mindset and incentivise doing original writing instead of commentary/reblogging :3c
