Today Roundup

Had a VERY productive yesterday-night-and-today. Started learning tablet weaving; i have a progress picture up on tumblr (link: https://red--thedragon.tumblr.com/post/663713788862873600/yarn) but due to using subpar weft yarn it broke late into the night and I had to start over, which I am now doing with white acrylic weft instead of whatever the junk my grandmaother gave me because she didn't want i t was. I should've known better (and am regretting not just using different purple because the regular strands of it are also starting to shred) but like, eh. Not walking to the Joannes again right after I went there the first time; i'll make do with what I have. It's not a huge deal anyway; I misunderstood the instructions so I did the pattern wrong, and now have the opportunity to do it right.

Regardless, tablet weaving is a lot of fun. I am going to have to make new cards out of wood, though, I think; I've got a bad habit of bending mine. Maybe I'll be able to get into the workshop on campus after my Friday class, but objectively I should wait until after my midterms are done to start manufacturing equipment for a hobby I've barely started.

I could just buy my own cards, but honestly I'm raring at the damn bit to go do more woodworking. I fucking love woodworking and it's been a while.

On a different front, I've been reading the Xenoethnography series. As of writing this I'm onto this one: https://archiveofourown.org/works/13290468. I genuinely expect this information to come as a surprise because apparently everyone I started messaging about it while reading were like "wait, you haven't read that yet?" and, to be fair to them, it is so aggressively up my alley that i am feeling VERY TARGETED by it. I love culture-shock fics and i love alien-vs-human-interactive-styles fics and etc etc etc anyways i cant decide if I wish people would've mentioned it to me or if I'm just pleased to read it. Probably both. I would've liked to know it existed sooner, though.

Genuine request. (Yes, really). Please send me whatever you think the most possibly disturbing thing you can find is (to be read, not like. videos. sorry). I would like to be profoundly shaken a little bit.

Like, idk, I read things that knock my entire brain on its side for fun and I've slowly and effectively become much more immune to getting my brain knocked on its side any more by things that aren't like "profound and alarming changes to interpretation of real life stimulus" these days, and sometimes you just want to walk around with your brain buzzing all wonky without it also doing things like "making you think there are people in your house" or "ruining your ability to see the color blue for a few days"

....maybe not anything that deals with specifically people hiding in other people's houses unnoticed actually. Don't think that would have the intended result. But anything else!
