today i (re)learned that dreamwidth as a platform is much more fun if you don't lurk and do leave lots of comments and interaction places. Every so often I forget about this site and spend more of my time in more lurking-friendly spaces and come back and am like ":( nothing is HAPPENING on here" and it turns out that that's usually because I'm not putting enough interaction in.

I never learn, but hopefully next time im like ":((( dreamwidth is boring now :((( i know this can be more fun so why isnt it :((( :((( :((((((" i can just like, look at this again and be like Oh. Right.

I feel like social media, which is so interaction-heavy, has really biased us to feel both numb and anxious about interaction at the same time. Like, a notification means nothing, but the only time you're not getting nothing-notifications is 9/10 someone trying to pick a fight. 'S fucking stupid.

Funnily enough it's like the reverse for me? Posting stuff on DW and not getting any comments feels less bad than posting stuff on Tumblr and getting no notes, because I know for a fact that I spend a lot of time just scrolling through my read page going "smart! Smart! Words! Loving it here!!!"
