G1 has so much freedom to do whatever just built-in. It's fun to play around with! G1 fic/content is just so much fun to interact with.

Genuinely, and like. also i eat grimdark for breakfast and it doesn't get grimdarker than the quintessons. but there's still so much room for humor! it's fantastic

Yeah I feel pretty much the same. I find G1 at least in terms of the cartoon gives me a lot to play with.

The lack of world building and character background aside from little snippets mean I can fill the void with whatever I want. Or expand on what exists. The fact the cartoon has the weirdest storylines means nothing is too silly to write as a laugh.

The rich fannon is fun to pick and choose from, and there’s so many older fics out there with concepts to re-explore.

I have seen... like... three total episodes of the actual cartoon LOL. My brain is NOT geared towards watching things.

The fanon is DELICIOUS though, for sure.

Luckily there's no actual need to watch G1 to engage with that part of the fandom.
