redthedragonBeen thinking about doing this for about a week, so: i'm gonna try and do a weekly "Here's the fics I've read this week" set of posts! Feel free to prod me about it if I haven't posted anything.
Dunno if I'm going to do it on Wednesdays but like, might as well for now at least lol.
So without further ado, in order of earliest to latest:
1. Desk Slut by Polyhexian
This fic is so good, I love Polyhexian’s Vortex so so so so so much. I should go back and reread it when I finish this post. I really highly recommend this one, Vortex and First Aid are really some kind of people and I love reading about them. It kind of picks up from Polyhexian’s other very good TexAid fics, which you can find here: The Devil’s Backbone, The Deal, The Dynamic (all of which I also recommend heavily; i’ve reread The Dynamic a somewhat-greater-than-normal amount of times and i’m gonna do it again when I finish this too.)
2. Shatterpoint by autobotscoutriella
Anyone who knows me these days knows about Shatterpoint because every Saturday I lose my mind singing its praises to the sun. Literally obsessed with this fic. it is just so so so so so good. I cannot recommend this one highly enough, everyone should read it. It'll be amazing to sit down and read once it's all posted, too, but it'll be exactly [checks notes] 20 weeks until that happens, and that's kind of a while lol. So get it while it's hot instead.
Seriously I have so many feelings about everything in this fic. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll leave it at that.

4. Every Day Is A Winding Road by cleverThylacine
I’m going to talk about these next two in one thing because they’re part of the same series, The Voice of Stanix , which I’ve slowly been making my way through for like a month and change at this point. It’s an AU, and a pretty big one, taking elements from IDW 2005 and adding a bunch of stuff from ??Energon I think? and the other TF animes to it to flesh out the Warworlds and also expanding on Ravage as a character quite a lot. I really like it overall, which honestly took me by surprise- I’m not usually a big fan of some of the stuff in the approach to the various side characters, but I feel like cleverThylacine pulls it off really well and I ultimately have no complaints; instead of sticking out like a sore fanon thumb it works really well in the world and the narrative that the author’s created. The world itself is hugely expansive and feels really rich, and everything that leans back to the mid-war period really has this sense of “good kids fucking it up by the numbers” that I really enjoy.
And, of course, this series is the Good Food if you, like myself, are starved for content wherein Ravage gets to be a whole human person. If this fic hit me a couple years ago I would’ve devoured the whole thing in one sitting, back when I was properly in my “Soundwave and Ravage and Megatron are my three blorbos and i adore them to death” phase and not now, when i’m mostly interested in characters more like cleverThylacine’s Buzzsaw. Ravage in these fics gets to be a whole person, with, like, agency and the ability to be treated like a whole actualized person, and so do all the other beastformers on the page, of which there are many. This Ravage also gets to be a really loving and wholehearted depiction of a femme-leaning genderfluid person and as a masc-leaning genderfluid myself I really like how that was done, it’s very relatable.is this representation lmao
Ultimately, again, I recommend this one. It’s a bit of a long read, though, clocking in at a little under 300k words and still in progress, and also I haven;’t finsihed it, though, so that’s a thing lmao.
5. Second Thoughts by CallieB
Because I'm going through my Ao3 history to find these, I want to add a mention of this one. It was fine, but you'll notice how it's an odd one out on this list on account of being a Stranger Things fic and not a Transformers one. It was fine, it was cute, but I didn't finish it because I just plain don't care enough about Stranger Things outside the one very specific au I was writing where I sicced one of my ocs on a canon character and everyone else was confused about it. If you like stranger things and enjoy Billy Hargrove/Steve Harrington you might be interested; otherwise... eh. can't really say anything about it, I didn't finish it.
7. Silent Orders by Paranormal_Shitness
THIS FIC. THIS FIC KILLS ME. This is not the first time I’ve read this one and it won’t be the last, but it’s been a while and i FORGOT how much it hits. This one is Star Wars, so also not Transformers, and it’s basically the “Palpatine grooms Anakin into trusting him over the Jedi in many ways and here it’s drugs and rape by proxy” fic, and it fucks, it kills me, it hits too damn hard every time. I can’t be like “you should read this” because it’s heavy as all fuck but it’s so good, it’s so worth reading.
8.Come here, baby, tell me that I'm wrong by quetzalpapalotl
THIS ONE TOO. Whirl and Optimus fuck and it’s Bad and I lay down and weep and do not stop and it is really good. I read it twice and I think that’s all I can physically handle lmao, but like, in a good way. I’ll have to reread it again in like a month. It’s also super worth your time.
9. God may not be able to get you absolution, but by Polyhexian
And finally, this fic, fifteenth in the Chromedog au lol series, both of which I highly recommend. This fic is pretty damn cool. I like this take on Drift/Deadlock a lot and I like seeing how Drift got where he is, because in the main body of the series itself he’s probably one of my favorite characters. This is backstory, so you probably could try and read it without any further context, but I don’t really recommend that because honestly reading it in posting order is really good and it’s cooler to see him without Getting all this the first time around and then rereading this and having a whole bunch of stuff suddenly start clicking. Drift melts his brain with datura plants and has a terrible life, The Fic. Highly recommend this one also.
