First is that "[minor inconvenience] is my enemy/the enemy" is a phrasing quirk I picked up from a friend, and it's basically never serious; it's a fun overdramatic way to say I'm struggling with something lol
second is that CSS is hard and i don't understand it ;-; i was trying to code a dark mode toggle with css and JavaScript but something in the css was getting confused and it would either toggle the background color *or* a sidebar color and not both. I wanted it to toggle both lol.
More accurately, though, JavaScript would be the enemy here. I think, if I remember right, when I made this post I hadn't realized that I had to work with JavaScript yet lol
But it's only """the enemy""" in the same way a cricket inside the house is "a foul beastie" or a slight disappointment is "the end of the world forever and ever" haha
What program are you using? I use Atom, which is an editor that enables you to open multiple tabs at once. There are packages you can download for it (kind of like add-ons and extensions) designed to make coding easier. So, you can have your index.html file open along with your styles.css file opened, and your json.js file opened and you're able to bounce happily between files. I'm not new to HTML; I was a pro when the blink feature was cool, if it ever was.
I'm using w3schools.com's "try it now" editor and neocities XD writing directly on the web kind of blows, but I'm working on a chromebook so that's about the limit of what my computer can easily handle.
On my other computer, I mainly use Notepad++, because I like the customizable theme and it also has multiple tabs. I appreciate it a lot but it's not compatible with the chromebook OS afaik :(
At some point I'm going to switch this computer to Linux but i haven't yet, I don't know how to use Linux and i am lazy lol
I'm using W3's tutorials as well; Atom is the editor like geocities (I didn't realize that geocities was still around!). Linux isn't difficult to install or use; just back up your work so you don't lose it. This is the site for Linux Mint )https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/burn.html).
I won't lie; I was hesitant to switch to Linux, as well, worried I wouldn't be good at it or able to really use or understand it. That was a year ago; now I'm pretty good with the command line, and have set up an email client on the command line. Not exactly sure what I want to do with it all, but I'm sure I'll figure it out as time goes on.
