redthedragonwe are once again doing this! I didn't read as much this week so expect... less. lol. Got a sister in town and Massive Insomnia and writing to do and words that are flowing.
I like doing this, though, keeps me conscious of the things i'm putting into my brain haha. It's like easy ass book reports for adults.
1.Morning After by CasusFere
It is blatantly obvious at this point that I like rereading fics I like. Yes this is a reread. It's funny and I like it, worth rereading again.
2. Ten Vorn Anniversary by ultharkitty
yeah this one again too. You can't stop me.
3. In Which Needlenose is Drunk Again by CasusFere
Still can't stop me rereading anything lmfao. I barely remembered this one, so I had to go back and reread it. It did kind of just slide right off my brain again so I can't really say much for it outside that it hasn't got a lot of staying power for me. It's a decent little fic, though, I definitely was entertained, but it won't be making my top 10 any time soon.
4. Under Construction by Plugs
This one got an update! I like seeing Scavenger play any role outside "whiny useless baby man" and this one delivers, though I'm not going to explain how because the update is significantly better unspoiled, haha. I liked it a lot, and I'd like to see more stories in this vein. (It is becoming increasingly clear to me that I'm just a fiend for horror lolol.)
5. Catfished By An Alien: How I Met Mirage, and Other Stories by Kemmasandi
Kemmasandi has gone back to a lot of their older stories that I'd despaired of ever updating, which is very cool because I love these self-insert stories but my life is literally so dull (and I disdain of cars so much in my irl life because I can't drive and can walk) that I cannot possibly do one for myself lmfao. Anyway this is promising to get interesting, featuring Knock Out In The Mud and Mirage Also In The Mud, and I am very interested to see where it's going.

7. The Empty Left by Lagerstatte
Wrote a fic and included the tag "rapist POV" (because it had noncon with aggressor-character POV) and discovered it was not an archive tag, decided to click into it out of curiosity, and found that it was searchable. This was at the top. I think it's Final Fantasy 14; it's mostly just some guy fucking some other guy's eye socket and that's what I'm into it for though.
8. Montarius Vane, Interstellar Rake by SickRose
Ditto for this one; I didn't like the writing style or the character or the narration at all, but at the same time, I read the whole thing, so what does that say about me lmao? anyway this one is basically "guy interchangeably rapes and has dubiously consensual sex with everyone he meets" and it's like. Eh. I expected it to be a lot more crunchy-and-intense from the description than what I actually got, and the protagonist was not terribly interesting for me because he was a really kind of dull low-quotient sadist and didn't do nearly enough stabbings for my tastes lmfao.
9. Five times First Aid was kidnapped by Decepticons with embarrassing injuries (and one time they wanted to cuddle) by Plugs
This one was funny as fuck. First Aid keeps getting kidnapped by Decepticons to do medicine on them because Hook is basically done with life and run completely and totally ragged. Features First Aid calling Megatron on his personal line and ordering him to train more medics. Would definitely reread.
10. get (gut)fucked by polkaprintpjs
Having been disappointed by #8 and freshly equipped with half a brain after sleeping for something like three nonconsecutive hours over an eight hour period, I remembered that my good friend Leo Polkaprintpjs Who Writes Good Fics had written me one fic wherein Overlord stuck his dick in someone's torso and I read that. It's still good the [checks ao3] 21st time around. A nice short snuff piece. Highly recommend.

In 2018 or whenever when tumblr exploded this writer (who i appreciated a lot on a personal level) kind of disappeared from all the parts of the internet I knew to follow them on, so I was really glad to see them posting again! This one is a Lucifer fic but it's funny as fuck. Someone send help, Lucifer refuses to stop eating things and it's sexy, the asshole. i was drinking tea the first time i read it and by the end of the fic i had needed to put the tea on a different table and stop drinking so i wouldn't destroy my poor computer with water damage. I think I got tea up my nose. anyway as you may expect, highly recommend this one

Another reread, yes. I like CasusFere's writing. This is the TexAid one; in retrospect, I really like this Vortex but this First Aid is like... not my favorite. I like the idea of him stonewalling all of Vortex's shit, but other people have done it better. Still good though.

A short ass piece by Leo where Vortex shows up in a forest, intimidates the fuck out of Owen Grady from Jurassic World, calls Motormaster and then fucks right off after finding out where to get a drink. I keep imagining it being this Bayverse Vortex concept I saw ages ago, which is unfortunately not teal but fortunately incredibly sexy anyway. Mmmmmmm, visible wires. Anyway he deserves to be intimidating and alien and I love this view of him just like... essentially having a pit stop.
14. Arcee by polkaprintpjs
Followup to #13; Arcee comes on the tails of Vortex. Owen, Animal Behaviorist, alarms her by mimicking her body language. Very interesting to see him spook an alien from his very spooked perspective, i love it.

I thought this was a different fic but I decided I didn't want to bother finding that one after I read this one because I was mad tired and barely conscious. It's pretty much just whirl being annoying, and it's very fun if you like that sort of thing.
16. Spawn by Longitudinalwave
Once again I'm rereading a fic that is objectively not very good but which I enjoy. I don't even like this one "that much" but it certainly exists and it also... idk it compels me for very specific reasons and outside that I could absolutely give or take it. Essentially Swindle sells out the Decepticons (including the Combaticons) and then attempts to keep them out of prison, and the world gets very dystopian very fast. I read through the whole thing once but Vortex is like, not even remotely a fan of playing along so he decides to keep himself out of prison by going on the stand and pleading innocent while also being like "no i am definitely guilty and furthermore i am not changing my plea because i think being executed would be fun but i don't want to piss off onslaught" like an extremely funny jokester bamf. i love the him. Objectively not really worth reading, though, and it takes a weird couple segues through ableism for no real reason.
17. Poetics: The Cybertonian Tradition by TiamatsChild
Like, four poems written by Cybertronian OCs before the civil war in g1; I like this one a lot but there's not really much to say about it. A nice addition to the worldbuilding of Cybertron.
18. Five Hangovers and a Trumpet by KoiLungfish
This fic is FUCKING HYSTERICAL please read it. The night after a party, Mixmaster wakes Scrapper (hungover) up with a very loud trumpet right in the audials and this has a knock-on cascade of waking everyone else up. Shoutout to Bonecrusher, MF who is woken up in a mean and terrible way and immediately is just like ":) [sanguine revenge]" on everyone else instead of trying to like yell or argue about it. 10/10 literally could not be more pleased, this fic fucks hard.

SPEAKING OF FICS THAT FUCK HARD this one is about Starscream and Rattrap, wherein Rattrap tries to get blackmail with which to control Starscream and Starscream tries to get sex with Rattrap with which to control Rattrap. This fic goes into a bunch of places and it has some really great character writing and I love it, I recommend it, it's great
20. Three Cubes of Energon and a Cell Door by CasusFere
onslaught taking the piss out of his teammates with a buncha autobots like a huge disloyal asshole, pretty much. I like this fic but the instincts in me the entire time were like "you can't say that to THEM!!!! you're selling your team out!!!! you're not an AUTOBOT you ASSHOLE >:( the combaticons oughta kick your ass for this shit even if its true" about it
21. Shattered by CasusFere
Love me some major character death. Especially love me some "combiner team dealing with grief when there are holes in the fabric of their brain". This one didn't quite deliver the Hurt on either but it's pretty alright; it's the first in a series and the rest of the series was more compelling so it had to be read lol.
22. Picking Up the Pieces by CasusFere
Second in the series; I felt more into this one. Blades gets into a fight because Slingshot's bad attitude and disregard for orders has gotten to the point where the rest of the Autobots don't like it very much, and he goes to the brig about it, and Hot Spot goes to Silverbolt's grave to be sad. It's good, I like it. It has a nice little "knock on effects of someone else dying" vibe that somehow I felt like Shattered itself lacked. which obviously i like lmfao
23. Fracture Critical by CasusFere
Third in the Fractured series. It feels unfinished, but like #22, it's interesting regardless. Slingshot has a couple of Silverbolt's memories from the night that he died rattling around in his head, and he keeps dreaming of it. They don't explain anything about how it happens or whatever, it's just the little vignette of Slingshot going "I don't know how this happened but your suggestion is incorrect" with Ratchet, and then pretty much ends there. Regardless, I liked it; I think the question of "is the combined form the "whole" or is the combined form "more than whole" and the individual the "whole"" an interesting question in terms of combiners and one which I only now realize I'm not sure about.
Also, not fic but an honorary mention: Polyhexian of "writing Vortex fics that make Red The Dragon go absolutely insane" fame also wrote an origfic book with zombies (that is... really not about zombies like at all, they're just setting) that I read this week that I liked! It's called Ophelia Was Murdered, it's sold on Amazon, and it's pretty fucking good. If you like action adventures and mean protagonists with brain problems give it a look over, it's a solid little piece of fiction. I would tell you how long it is if I had any idea but I read it in (I think) a little under an hour in an insomnia-fueled sleepless haze so that could be anywhere from 20k to 200k words lmfao.
